Rules and scoring
The documents provided below will assist coaches and managers with becoming familiar with the rules of play for their respective age groups, how to score and how to record and submit results.
Under 8s, U9s and U10s (modified cricket format)
A decision has been made to no longer record formal statistics for our modified cricket age groups. The intent of modified cricket is to ensure that the players are provided with an opportunity to experience and enjoy cricket. We have spent an enormous amount of time over the past couple of seasons having to settle disputes regarding the interpretation of rules and scoring. This fundamentally goes against what our Club is about and the sort of attitudes and environment we aim to promote. We do not have the resources or volunteers to dedicate someone almost full time to the role of statistician. Parents are more than welcome to continue to keep scorebooks, but there will be no requirement to send abstracts in as was previously required. Any questions re this decision can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those teams still wishing to score, A Scoring Guide is available.
Under 11s and above scoring options
From U11s up you will be required to submit match results and all statistics within 7 days of the match being completed into MyCricket. This is a Brisbane North requirement. A guide to using MyCricket for the entering of results can be found here, together with a Guide to Assigning a team to a coach.
MyCricket Scoring App (iOs and Android)
The MyCricket Scoring App is free and provides a user friendly way to score games electronically. Qld Cricket recently provided an overview and training session on the new scoring App. Copies of the information circulated is below
Electronic scoring is not compulsory. If you wish to continue using scorebooks that is okay!

NXCricket (iOs only)
Should teams wish to score electronically, many teams find the Nx Scorer App ideal. The NXcricket cricket score book app is available for purchase on ipad, iphone and ipod touch ($10.99 from the App Store).
NXcricket is a really user friendly scoring app. It summarises all information entered to really simplify the process for Coaches and Managers to then enter data into MyCricket (requirement for U11 and up age groups). Additionally, it has the capacity to email all results and stats to each team member after the game. There are a heap of others interesting features of this app including – score projection, run rate required, worm and wagon wheel diagrams to name but a few.
A guide to using NXCricket can be found here.
Please note: Results still have to be manually entered into MyCricket within 7days of the conclusion of the match.
